Innovative Lens Technologies

Even though a wide variety of cameras are made, each one uses the same principle of light passing through a lens and being recorded as an image. As lens performance differs, so does the look and characteristics of the resulting images.

Superb Image Rendering

A variety of lens technologies are used to create sharp, clear images. A thin coating is vacuum deposited onto the surface of the lens to reduce the amount of light that reflects off the lens surface or inside the lens, and to increase the amount of light passing through the lens.

Nano Surface Coating technology with an extremely low reflectance ratio is applied to LEICA lenses for exceptional optical performance which minimise ghosting and flaring whilst maintaining stunning clarity. LEICA lenses are also multicoated to suppress ghosting and flaring whilst ensuring an optimum colour balance. They greatly improve the image rendering performance when shooting against a light source.

Ultra-Wide Angle

Panasonic has made great strides to make wide-angle lenses more attainable by using aspherical lenses. The aspherical lens has the same effect as several spherical lenses but with a smaller size and weight which is how LUMIX cameras can offer wide-angle lenses across the LUMIX compact camera range.

High Zoom and Tele Zoom in a Compact Size

Bulky telephoto lenses are a thing of the past. LUMIX has downsized and reduced the weight of their digital cameras by using compact telephoto and prime lenses, which are portable and boast superb optical performance.

Optical Image Stabiliser

The O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser) system compensates for blurring in photos caused by handshake. With an optical system, the image is not electronically processed so there is minimal degradation resulting is higher quality photos and video without the effect of blurring.
